What does "retouching" digital photos mean?
The term "retouching" refers to the process of improving the Color, Contrast and Density of a picture, as well as removing imperfections, such as acne and age lines. We retouch the digital files themselves to enable you to produce perfect prints.
Can't I improve my photos myself?
There is software available which will allow you to edit and retouch your own pictures. The benefits of choosing FixAPrint as opposed to retouching your pictures yourself are clear. We have a team of professionals providing a high standard of work. We are affordable, knowledgeable, and easy to use. We are convenient and highly trained. It is a smart choice to have done professionally and expediently work which may take you much longer personally to complete, with no guarantee of positive results. FixAPrint, simply, makes good sense.
What aspects of my photos can you edit/retouch?
We can smooth, soften, or remove wrinkles, lines, freckles, blemishes and other facial features. We can improve the Color, Contrast and Density of your pictures and remove red eye.
What if the quality of my original pictures is not very good?
We will make every effort to improve your photos to the greatest extent possible.
How can you offer such low prices?
By setting standards and concentrating our energy on one thing, your photos, we can keep our costs down and pass the savings on to you.
How can I best scan my photos for the Restoration Service?
We recommend you use the .JPG file format with file compression set low (better quality) and a scanner resolution setting of 300DPI for most medium & large size photographs and 400 to 600DPI for very small pictures (or if you want us to only use a small portion of the photograph). If you or a friend can’t do the scan then there are many local businesses that offer scanning services such as Kinko’s.
Important: Please be sure that the scanner glass is very clean and the photo is thoroughly dusted off before the scan.
How do I upload files from my computer?
You can choose one of two easy methods for uploading your photos on the Photo Upload page (after login):
Check Box
You can upload one or more photos by clicking on the Check Box tab on the Photo Upload page. This will open a new window with two boxes. The left box shows your folder list. The right box will show the images of the folder in thumbnail with check boxes. Select photos by clicking on one or more check boxes. Once you have selected your photos, click the 'Upload' button and it will upload the selected files.
Basic Browse
For our most compatible upload option, click on the Basic Browse tab on the Photo Upload page. This will open a new window, which will let you search your computer for the photos. When you have selected a file, click 'OK' and the file name and location will appear in the corresponding box on your Upload Files page. Repeat the process until you have selected the photos you want to be retouched (up to ten at a time). Once this is complete, click the 'Upload' button and it will upload the selected files.
Once you have uploaded your selected photos, the page will refresh. It will then state at the side how many files are currently uploaded for your order and give you the option to upload more images. If you are done uploading, click the Next button to continue the ordering process
